Renovation Delta Queen

The dredger the “Delta Queen of dredging factory De Boer in Sliedrecht may be recorded as a newly built ship, actually it is not. Based on the Delta Queen is a cockles ship from the '80s. Led by engineering and maritime specialist shipbuilder VCU TCD underwent the ship in just sixteen weeks a complete re-building. Owner Cornelis Jan van de Graaf of dredging factory the Boer gaves VCU TCD a great compliment for that.
The conversion of the cockles chip to tap and dredger was a special job. To the class requirements of the CAA and Bureau Veritas to comply, it had to be registered as a new ship. It also had everything from pipes to the electrical framework, completely renewed to meet the requirements. For VCU, this was not the first conversion job. Dredging factory the Boer approached VCU last year because of the similar conversion of the Ilona G successfully.

The Delta Queen was not yet ready to go as a full dredger. The first year it was used as a floating crane. After that year, the Delta Queen made ready and fully equipped dredger to act. For use as a floating crane, two 12 meter spuds, each over a meter in diameter, mounted in the deck. In this way the vessel stands firmly on the bottom. This is necessary if the giant crane is being used in construction of ports and the digging of canals.
The Delta Queen first went to work in French Guyana. The spuds can be rocked by two winches, each over 30 tons and a completely new hydraulic system on board has been laid. Moreover, the entire new middle deck is reinforced performed.

The project was completed in record time of sixteen weeks. Eight companies are responsible. Construction factory L.Post en Zn. Provided the complete paneling
The construction of the new electricity network on board was provided by Piet Brouwer. the plumbing was provided by SB Installatietechniek. After shipyard Balk put the ship dry, it was cleaned and painted by Snijder Paintings. Henkko did the layout and Hoekman Shipbuilding provided the piping of the entire vessel. TCD was responsible for various technologies.
