VCU recently built two new tween decks for Global Seatrade. These steel ship decks were fabricated in VCU’s own workshop and subsequently transported by road to Harlingen. With a width of more than seven metres, the transport presented a significant logistical challenge.
Thanks to careful planning and the use of VCU’s own transport vehicles, the ship decks were transported safely and efficiently. To ensure the exceptionally wide load could be moved smoothly, the transport took place overnight. As a result, the tween decks arrived safely at their destination, where they will be used as part of Global Seatrade’s operations.
Designing, fabricating, and transporting custom ship decks requires technical expertise, careful planning, and efficient project coordination. By managing the entire process in-house, from production to transport, VCU maintains full control over quality, planning, and project execution. This integrated approach ensures an efficient workflow and the reliable delivery of every project.
Meanwhile, work is already underway in VCU’s workshop on a new series of tween decks for Coops en Nieborg. These custom ship decks will also be transported by road later this year to Foxhol in the province of Groningen. With projects like these, VCU demonstrates its expertise in steel construction, custom ship decks, and specialised transport for the maritime industry.
