Staaldraad vislijnen

VCU Maritime is a leading supplier of high-quality steel wire fishing lines. Our specialized aluminum-zinc coating provides excellent protection against corrosion. In addition, our fishing lines are treated with a special grease to resist saltwater exposure, significantly increasing their durability.

Dyneema fishing lines

VCU Maritime also supplies Dyneema fishing lines for beam trawling. The main advantage of Dyneema lines over traditional steel wire fishing lines is their lightweight nature combined with high breaking strength. These lines also offer excellent resistance to UV radiation and have low stretch, which is essential for efficient and effective fishing operations.

Service on location

VCU Maritime offers on-site tension spooling services for fishing lines using our fleet of trucks with hydraulic reel systems and crane equipment. This ensures optimal line performance, enhanced reliability, and a longer service life.

Finishing options

We offer a wide range of end terminations and related hardware for fishing lines. Customers can choose from various options such as splicing, clamping, casting, and tip welding. Our hardware selection, including shackles, swivels, sockets, and wire or rope thimbles, is designed to meet the specific needs of every customer.

VCU Cooling & Ice Machines

We specialize in the cooling of both fish and the refrigerated storage areas and holds on fishing vessels. We also provide complete system installations and supply VCU Slurry Ice machines and VCU Flake Ice machines in various capacities.

VCU Flake ICE machine

Since 2004, we have specialized in ice machines, both slurry and flake ice systems. Our machines are installed on fishing vessels as well as at fish processing facilities.

Our flake ice machines are equipped with a vertical ice maker made entirely of stainless steel (SS-316) and feature a stationary drum. The advantage of a stationary drum is that the refrigerant cannot leak through the seals. As standard, the ice maker is also suitable for producing flake ice from seawater. The hardness of the ice can be adjusted by adding salt to the water. For this purpose, a special salt mixing pump and reservoir can be supplied.

VCU Flake Ice machines are available with capacities ranging from 500 kg up to 60 tons per day.

VCU Slurry Ice Machine

We supply VCU Slurry Ice machines in various capacities and can also provide full system installation. VCU’s Slurry Ice consists of a mixture of microscopic ice crystals. These slurry ice crystals are extremely small, just 5 microns (or 0.005 mm) in size. They completely surround the product, leaving no air between the product and the slurry ice. This results in maximum surface contact with the product to be cooled.
The outcome is the fastest possible transfer of cold, instantly chilling the product to its core. This process inhibits the growth of potentially harmful bacteria and slows down chemical reactions, significantly extending the product’s shelf life.

Nets

The production of complete fishing nets takes place in close collaboration with our customers. A key element in this process is our proprietary simulation software, developed in-house by VCU. This program allows us to realistically simulate net designs for various fishing methods, significantly improving their functionality and effectiveness. All designs are carefully stored and managed within our net management system.

Thanks to our many years of experience with various fishing methods, our department has built up in-depth knowledge, enabling us to provide our customers with high-quality expertise.

VCU Catchmanagement

The VCU CatchManagement system is a weighing system carefully developed in collaboration with fishermen. Since its introduction, we have continuously evaluated and improved it, resulting in a reliable onboard tool for sorting, weighing, recording, and managing fish.

The scale and input module in the fish hold are very simple and efficient to operate. The skipper can use the administration software to generate advanced overviews.

This way, the contents of the fish hold can always be accessed in real time. One of the major advantages is that, in the event of an unexpected inspection, the skipper will never be caught off guard again. Since the end of 2010, the system has offered full traceability. With support from the European Fisheries Fund, we have been able to develop the Catchlocator service together with our partners.

VCU CombiRope

For flyshoot fishing, VCU Maritime has everything needed to equip your vessel. This includes the flyshoot rope, nets, and even the buoys, all supplied by us.

The Combination Rope is a blend of steel wire and rope, with the steel strands fully covered in rope material. This combination results in a strong and flexible Combination Rope. The diameter of the Combination Rope ranges from 38 millimeters to 70 millimeters. Using a specially developed machine, VCU Maritime is able to deliver lengths from 3,000 to 3,500 meters (depending on the diameter). This reduces the number of splices needed in the Combination Rope, as each splice weakens the rope. With the help of a hydraulic crane truck, the flyshoot rope can be wound under tension.

OSEY Urk Winches

“The unique combination of Icelandic and Dutch fishing knowledge and craftsmanship!” The idea for this simple, fast, and reliable system was first introduced in Iceland in 1984. Today, more than 95% of the Icelandic flyshooting fleet is equipped with Osey winches. Since 2005, the production of Osey winches has also started in the Netherlands.

Various fishing companies in the Netherlands and France are already equipped with Osey winches. We offer all types and sizes of winches tailored to your needs. In addition to Osey winches, we also develop and install complete hydraulic systems.

VCU Catch Processing

VCU TCD specializes in designing, manufacturing, and installing fish processing equipment for handling fresh fish on board. VCU TCD designs the fish processing system in close collaboration with the customer. The complete production of the system takes place in our own workshop, which is equipped with the most modern machines.

The complete installation of a fish processing system on board your vessel is in good hands with us. VCU TCD is also the right place for maintenance and repair of existing fish and catch processing systems.

Since the end of 2010, the system has offered full traceability. With support from the European Fisheries Fund, we developed the Catchlocator service together with our partners, and the VCU CM Pro Computer Terminal was created.

Supply of gas and lubricating oil

History and Core Activity

VCU was founded in 1922 with the primary goal of jointly purchasing gas oil. Since then, supplying gas oil to the affiliated fleet has remained a core pillar of the company. Even today, numerous maritime businesses benefit from the favorable gas oil rates offered by VCU. While VCU mainly serves its members, other customers can often take advantage of competitive deals as well.

Procurement and Supply

VCU purchases gas oil for deliveries within the Netherlands at market prices and has favorable agreements with renowned bunkering companies for pumping oil into vessels. From their modern headquarters in Urk, bunkering operations are coordinated and developments in oil prices are closely monitored to make purchases at the most favorable moments.

International Deliveries and Networks

VCU maintains a weekly stock of gas oil for bunkering and strives for outstanding quality. For international deliveries, VCU has an extensive network of local suppliers in ports across the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Denmark. The company continuously seeks favorable agreements with local suppliers to further expand and optimize its international network. This enables VCU to often choose from multiple suppliers, benefiting the gas oil price for vessels abroad.
